Caterpillar and Power Partners employ GPP students in Athens

We are excited to announce our first 12 for Life Workplace program in Athens-Clarke County in partnership with the Clarke County School District, Power Partners, Inc., Caterpillar, and Athens Technical College.  Five students from Cedar Shoals High School and Clarke Central High School are working with Power Partners, Inc. in the areas of manufacturing, informational technology, and quality assurance.  Additionally, two students from Cedar Shoals High School are working at Caterpillar in assembly.  This partnership would not have been possible without the support of Athens Technical College and Clarke County 4-H as well as the leadership of Power Partners in engaging the local community.  This is an exciting expansion of our partnership with Clarke County Schools, which began with a WorkPrep program at Burney-Harris-Lyons Middle School in 2011.  This fall GPP WorkPrep programs will be implemented in all Clarke County high schools to further the opportunities available to Athens-Clarke County students.
