Work Based Learning Coordinator Spotlight!

GPP/WBL School Coordinator Nick Setchel is proud to have a job where he is helping  students work for the future. Nick works at Cedar Shoals High School in Athens-Clarke County. This is his second year serving in this capacity. Thank you Mr. Setchel for your hard work with GPP! 

Meet Marcy Sanders, Work Based Learning Coordinator at Mary Persons High School in Monroe County. Marcy recently brought her GPP students to Atlanta for GPP Leadership Day at the Capitol. She also coordinates the students in their employment at the Georgia Department of Corrections in Forsyth. Thank you Marcy for your passion and all you do for your students!

On January 25, 2021 Marcy Sanders was in a fatal automobile accident and is survived by her three daughters. While she was WBL Coordinator for Monroe County Schools, Marcy worked with GPP students employed at the Georgia Department of Corrections in Forsyth. The love she had for her students was evident when you witnessed her mentoring and encouraging them. As stated in the obituary, "Marcy was a surrogate mother to many and was always willing to share her bright smile, sparkling eyes and full heart. Most of all, she was a devoted mother to her three girls who were the light of her life and a constant joy."

Rest In Peace. 

We couldn’t do without Work Based Learning Coordinators like Christian Barner. Christian is the school WBL Coordinator at Clarke Central High School in Athens. What you do for GPP students is appreciated! 

Meet Joy Pirkle, GPP Worksite Coordinator at Eaton Supercharger in Athens. Joy is hands on and loves supporting the GPP students at Eaton Supercharger. Currently there are two Clarke County GPP students working at Eaton, one from Clarke Central High School and the other fro Cedar Shoals High School. Thanks for all you do Joy and your passion for GPP!
